Lead Coordinator's Corner
Hi there!
Glad to see you here. My name is Richess and I’m the Founder and Lead Coordinator of Operation Serve Global. I just wanted to personally welcome you to our website as you learn more about who we are and what we do.
It is my prayer that as you discover our organisation, you’ll be greatly inspired by our work.
To set the ball rolling, let me tell you how it all began…
Where It All Began
The OS story began in January 2012 during a mission trip organized by Excellent Youth Outreach to Gbedema, a village in the Fumbisi district of the Upper East Region.
After the missions trip, three of the team members (who later served as the OS Coordinating Team) continued to Tamale in the Northern Region. Some of the communities visited were Zamashegu, Nabila, and Jingba.
It was disheartening to discover that some of these communities had no schools, while others did not have one educated person. Nabila for example, had a school building, but no teachers. It was here that a burden was received by Richess Okai who shared it with friends Kate Azumah and Ato Manful to send National Service Personnel to some of these communities to serve their spiritual and educational needs
It was later discovered that many other communities had neither schools nor churches, and were largely unreached with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
After returning to Accra, the team began work towards forming and running the OS idea. A number of experienced missionaries, ministers and teachers were invited to share their knowledge. Consequently, a 3-week training package was put together for the first training which took place in August 2012. It had six signees in all.
From its inception till date, Operation Serve has trained more than 130 personnel from five (5)
African countries to serve in several communities, particularly in Northern Ghana. Most legates serve as teacher missionaries. The faithfulness of God has enabled this ministry to extend its reach through various initiatives to bless thousands of lives.
Where It's Been
Over the years, our work has taken us to different regions in Ghana. The journey so far has been full of twists and turns but through it all, many lives continue to be greatly blessed by this organisation.
Now, we share what this journey has been like…
